Snapshots allow you to create an image from a running virtual machine instance. This can be used to save the disk of your virtual machine to an image file and at another date boot a new virtual machine from this image with the saved data.
You can configure the limits of how many snapshots are available in your account (snapshot limit) in addition to how much space you require to store those snapshots in (snapshot storage).
First you must go to your package via the main menu and you will see the following screen that shows your virtual machines. Click on the virtual machine name (in this case virtual-machine01).
This will lead you to the virtual machine details page as below:
From here you can see on the left hand side there is a storage menu, click on the storage link, this will take you to the following page:
Naturally when you first enter the above page it will be defaulted on the "Disks" tab, just click on "Snapshots" and if this is your first snapshot then the snapshot listing will be blank.
You can just click on "Create a new snapshot" and it will create a snapshot of your virtual machine. If you do not have sufficient snapshots available you will need to upgrade your quota which can be done via this knowledgebase article.
